RICOH InfoPrint Manager V4.12.2 – Released September 29th 2023
Amy Buckingham, WW ATS
InfoPrint Manager V4.12.2 became available September 29th. The key highlight is that users can now access the Web GUI and WMI securely with a single set of login credentials using Federated Authentication. The InfoCenter is updated with the V4.12.2 documentation. Note that for any trial requests, the customer will receive V4.12.2, on a 60-day trial basis. To request a trial, go to this URL: ricohsoftware.com/trial_request. For internal users, be sure to include 'ricoh' as part of the e-mail address to automatically be approved.
For existing customers on releases prior to V4.12, Ricoh account teams need to order a no-charge upgrade from Techline for V4.12, to generate a new license. Customers can install V4.12 as a trial, but they will need the V4.12 license after the 60-day trial period expires.
Here is the Ricoh Software InfoCenter documentation link: help.ricohsoftware.com/swinfocenter/
Starting with Release 4.12, customers must agree to the terms of the Software Maintenance Agreement (SWMA) prior to installing the InfoPrint Manager software.
The following was compiled from the Release Notes, with the highlights in red denoting that they are in response to customer requests. I have added explanatory notes in blue, which may denote differences from the V4.12.2 content. Any customer upgrading should be sure to use 4.12.2.

Key highlights in RICOH InfoPrint Manager V4.12.2:
- Users can now access InfoPrint Manger Web Administration Interface (WebGUI) and Web Management Interface (WMI) securely with a single set of login credentials. Federated Authentication allows users to authenticate through an identity provider, and then use that authentication to access InfoPrint Manager online services. Supported servers:
– Common Approach to Identity Assurance (CAIA)
– Active Directory Federation Services™ (AD FS)
– Okta®
With Federated Authentication, users do not need to remember separate login credentials for each service they use, and InfoPrint Manager does not need to keep their data in the internal databases. This can reduce the risk of data breaches and other security issues. OpenID is the multi-factor-authentication method implemented.
For more information, see RICOH InfoPrint Manager for Windows: Getting Started, the Understanding InfoPrint Manager Security section and RICOH InfoPrint Manager for Windows: Procedures, the Managing Federated Authentication section. - Print rules enhancements:
– Added name-text and department-text to the job/document attributes in the conditions list
– Added Has a value (set) and Has no value (not set) to the condition operators list
– Made the printer names for Route job dynamic
– Made the Set attribute values dynamic
For more information, see RICOH InfoPrint Manager for Windows: Procedures, the Using print rules section, RICOH InfoPrint Manager: Reference, the Attributes for print rules section, and the RICOH InfoPrint Manager Web Administration Interface help system.
- Web Management Interface (WMI) enhancements:
– Enhanced server log with messages filter and dynamic loading
– Added a destination log view tab
– Added a server tracing tab
– Added a filtering function for ACL Groups
– You can now copy information directly from the server log
For more information, see the RICOH InfoPrint Manager Web Management Interface help system.
- Added the option to both print and log the job messages for the Actual Destination (the Record job messages parameter on the Customize tab)
For more information, see RICOH InfoPrint Manager: Reference, the dss-job-message attributes topics. - Added support for the -x and -y parameters for pdf2afp and ps2afp when using the agspdl processing interpreter.
For more information, see RICOH InfoPrint Manager: Reference, the Flags and values topic in the pdf2afp and ps2afp commands section. - Enhanced Artifex transforms (PS, PDF, PCL) color processing speed.
- Added support for RICOH Pro C7500 and RICOH Pro C9500.
- The following printer models are deprecated and will be removed in the next release. They will still be supported as generic printers:
– Same list as previously provided in the 4.12.0 ATS Newsletter
Windows:
- Enhanced ismu to support the all parameter on Windows.
For more information, see RICOH InfoPrint Manager: Reference, the ismu utility section.

Security fixes included in Release 4.12
Release 4.12.2 includes fixes for these CVEs:
4.12.2CVEs.pdf (94.17 KB)
Release 4.12.2 includes resolution for these CCRs:
AIX/Linux/Windows:
- IPM3-1187 Upgrading from an InfoPrint Manager version prior to the IPv6 support (4.7.2) might cause the server not to start due to incompatibility of namespace files containing only IPv4 addresses.
- IPM3-1194 InfoPrint Manager Command Line Client for Windows does not install if Ricoh ProcessDirector is already installed on the system. InfoPrint Manager server and Ricoh ProcessDirector cannot coexist on the same system, but the Command Line Client should install.
- IPM3-1200 segsize ignored when coming from js (job script) file via submission command resulting in psfin creating very small segments.
AIX:
- IPM3-1192 InfoPrint Manager for AIX fails to install completely in some cases due to missing mkprof utility tool (ipsc-psf.tools.rte.config_u[33]: /usr/lpp/psf/bin/mkprof: not found). In other cases, installation completes and running fxprof command post installation is required.
- IPM3-1201 pdenc_jobs and pddec_jobs failed to encrypt/decrypt existing job files that contain the character "_" in their file name.
Windows:
- IPM3-1189 Running ISMU to create an archive using InfoPrint Manager for Windows version later than 4.11 on a non-English system does not create the correct archive because the server could never be stopped (due to multiserver support). This might happen with previous versions as well, if InfoPrint Manager server fails to restart when creating the archive. A non-English InfoPrint Manager server must be stopped/restarted during archive creation to swap the non-English catalog files with the English ones, as archives are always in English.
