RICOH InfoPrint Manager V4.9.0 – Now Available
Amy Buckingham, WW ATS
InfoPrint Manager V4.9.0 (English) became available on February 28th. Note that for any trial requests, the customer will receive V4.9.0, on a 60-day trial basis. To request a trial, go to this URL: ricohsoftware.com/trial_request. (The planned availability for V4.9.1 EFIGSJ is April 19th. Official launches are in March for RA, and in May for RUSA/RE/RJ.) For internal users, be sure to include 'ricoh' as part of the e-mail address to automatically be approved.
These are the key highlights in V4.9.0:
• SSL/TLS Encryption between client-server and server-server
o Secured communication for client-to-server and server-to-server using TLS 1.2 and SSL.
o The Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol encrypts internet traffic of all types, making secure communication possible across a network in a way designed to prevent eavesdropping and tampering.
o InfoPrint Manager uses OpenSSL (https://www.openssl.org) to enable TLS encryption so that the communication between servers and clients is secure. InfoPrint Manager provides the OpenSSL libraries on all supported OS-es. By default, the latest version of TLS available with InfoPrint Manager is used.
• Added running as a standard user in Linux
o Removed the limitation to use Linux sys group for the users that run on Linux
• Web GUI enhancements
o New tree view for better usability for users familiar with the Java GUI
o Can be customized to display a green icon for objects (queues, logical destinations, and printers) in READY state
o IPM Ideas portal is now exposed in the Web GUI
o Exposed PSF Block Resident Fonts actual destination attribute in Java and Web GUI
o Allow multiple page-select ranges for the attribute value (Change Page Range in the GUIs)
o New 404 page not found interface
• Other enhancements
o Ability to anonymize data (job name related information) using new attributes de-identification-method and de-identification-method-used: Only the owner or recipient of the job will be able to view the job name and details
o Ability to automatically update Windows InfoPrint Select and PDF Driver client systems, running a new client-server application: Multiple ways to stagger the deployment based on a filter of IP addresses or host/domain.
o Added support for InfoPrint Font Collection 2019
o InfoPrint Manager will use OpenJDK8/OpenJ9 Java, instead of Oracle (Linux and Windows)/IBM (AIX) Java
o Documented InfoPrint Manager cloud recommendations in the InfoPrint Manager for AIX and Linux: Configuring and Tuning Guide
o Improved server communication for notifying Java and Web GUI that connection is alive
o Updated version of PDF driver for Linux Mobile Secure Feature
• User feedback requests
o Updated the PSF Other (using PCL Secondary Process) media size table
o InfoPrint Manager now picks up the Job/Document Defaults notification profile (i.e. Job Log) for jobs submitted through hot folders
o Linux and AIX: Display rip (i.e. pdf2afp, ACIF, etc.) attributes in the Job Log
o Maintenance license type can be applied for older releases
o Allow identical licenses with different fingerprints
o Job handling mechanism when jobs are cancelled in the printer console was updated to allow better user experience
